Gentle, calm and led by your baby

Newborn photography captures the tiny details that change so quickly in those first weeks. As a newborn photographer in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, I photograph every baby gently and with care, welcoming families from Durham, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and across the North East.

We build plenty of time into every session, so feeds, settling and cuddles are never rushed. I’ll guide you through it all, and you’ll leave with timeless portraits you’ll treasure forever.

02 / When to book

The perfect timing

Newborn sessions work best at around 7 to 14 days old, which often fits around paternity leave too. We recommend booking from your 20-week scan, as we only offer two newborn sessions a week.

Choose a date 7 to 10 days after your due date and it becomes a floating appointment: if your baby arrives early or late, we simply move it. Already missed that window? We’re one of the few studios in the region that photograph newborns up to at least 6 weeks old.

Sessions run on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with a very limited number on Saturdays.

Room for everyone

Parents and siblings are welcome to join in at any point. Don’t worry about being in front of the camera so soon after the birth: we can photograph you head and shoulders only, so you’re covered.

Sibling photos are often the highlight of a newborn session. They’re simple, safe and baby-led.

Your questions

Do you photoshop my baby?

As a rule, no. We show you your images just as they are, so if your baby has dry skin, milk spots or mottled skin you’ll see it at your viewing. Most parents want to remember their baby exactly as they were. If you’d like the skin cleaned up, that’s no problem and it’s part of the service.

Will we get photos of all of us?

Yes, and we encourage it. We can photograph you head and shoulders only, so don’t worry about having just had your baby: we’ve got you covered.

Can siblings take part?

Yes. Sibling portraits are simple, safe and baby-led, and they’re often the favourite photos from the session.

When should I book?

Ideally once you’ve had your 20-week scan, as we only have a few newborn slots each week. Pick a date 7 to 10 days after your due date and we’ll move it once your baby arrives. If your baby is already here, get in touch straight away and we’ll see what we can do.

What if my baby is older than two weeks?

We photograph newborns up to at least 6 weeks old. For older babies, a baby session captures their personality, smiles and interaction with the same gentle approach.

Where are you based?

Our studio is in Chester-le-Street, near Durham. Families travel to us from across the North East, including Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.
